The Disease and Ailment Update - RP Changes

Hope everybody had a great weekend on DCRP. In addition to updates that add new content and locations, we also are introducing updates to roleplay in our city. This post will detail the first major RP update.

The Disease and Ailment Update has been in the works for roughly two months in cooperation with the great players of Pillbox Hill. TL;DR? You can be diagnosed with various diseases and ailments which you will need to get treated for.

This system is not random, however. You will not be diagnosed with a disease just because that's what someone thinks you should have. I created a system with some basic coding and math that calculates your chance of getting a disease based on how you roleplay your character. Do you smoke and drink? Lung or liver cancer could be a possibility. Do you have a high-stress job? You could have high blood pressure or PTSD.

So why should you care about getting a disease? Well, if you allow your disease to go untreated by not listening to doctors and skipping appointments, it could lead to you being declared terminally ill by a doctor. This would result in a perm-death of your character. This creates a necessity to see doctors as well as creating some interesting character development for our players.

Just imagine being able to talk about the time you beat cancer, or how you clawed back from a bout of depression. This adds a lot of depth to RP that we hope our players will appreciate.

At this time, we will be allowing players to opt-out of the perm-death part of this RP. This could change in the future. Keep in mind that if you opt-out, you are weak as fuck and you will be relentlessly mocked in discord and in-game for your unwillingness to embrace RP.

This change to RP will go live on April 2nd, 2021 at 3:00 a.m./EST
